The weather here is ridonculous. We are effectively snowed in. Kody is very much avoiding going out, because yesterday was so cold. This morning we went out to find soft snow with a layer of crunch over it.
Kody was heavy enough to punch through but it very much affected his walking. He appears to be a bit confused by the whole thing but carries on, occasionally letting out a bark of… excitment? frustration? I don't know. He seems half excited to look around now that it's warmer (30 degrees) and half confused at what has happened.
If you have tips on taking dachshunds outside in the snow, please leave a comment. I could use some ideas.
Shopsy doesn’t much like the snow either, although he does like to sniff around to see if there’s anything interesting buried in it. When it’s really cold out he only really goes out to do his business, then he’s right back inside.
He just burns off his energy by running round and round the house, usually followed by, or following me
If anyone out there knows where to find boots that fit doxies – I’d love to know
I shovel a circle around a tree in the yard so that they can run around it, and try to shovel so at least a few blades of grass show. It’s about 10 feet wide maybe, but the “track” is just about 2 feet wide. Some parts are a little wider so that they can turn around when doing their business.
