Li’l Lily Rose is at 15.5 ounces. Just a smidge more and she’ll weigh a whole pound. Probably tomorrow.
Kody wants to get out so bad, he is actually running through the snow now and wants to get out and go farther. He also wants to avoid the wetter areas, probably because they are colder. Things are finally melting off.
Today my friend Daniel came out to rescue me and we shovelled a lot of snow away. The main thing we did was unplug this drain which allowed the lake to go away. It took forever because it was covered in 8 inches of ice and we were both exhausted. If you’re thinking it looks pretty clear that’s because we had to go at it from all angles to get the ice up. It was very persistant. I also just turned off my brain and cleaned ice and leaves and whatever out of the grates with my fingers. I was just like, “I don’t want to see it, I just want it out!”
Does your dog avoid wet snow? How does he or she behave when it starts to melt?

Shopsy’s funny when the snow starts to disappear when we get a melt – he’ll actually climb onto the remaining snow to poop. That gets funny when there’s only a small square left. The other day he was trying to go on the remains of a snowbank that was a good 45 degree angle.
Of course the first thing he does when he comes inside is go run to the fireplace and lay down in front of it to dry off. Never let it be said they’re not smart little creatures.

Yeah it hasn’t been long, but I’ve noticed that with Kody too. I thought he’d avoid the snow once he had other options, but he seems to be attracted to it.
