Kody really turned my life upside down, for the better. Lately I've been working a lot, and while we do probably more walks than most people and today we even went outside to play fetch and have some fun, he spends more time left to his own devices than ever. And he seems OK with that.
I don't believe he loves the crate, but he acts like he does. If there's any sign that I might be leaving he runs into the crate, even if I just got home and let him out of the crate. He does get a treat when he goes in the crate when I leave, but I think he would rather have me stay… I think. Even though I know they're supposed to like their crate, the human part of me has a hard time accepting that they do.
Right now I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop and he's sleeping next to me. It's wonderful for me, but he sleeps so much now. I'm a pretty good dad. If I'm here with the laptop and he needs hugs and kisses, he gets them. If he asks to go out, we go out. If he needs my attention he basically gets it. So in some ways I just can't believe how easy going he is.
I feel obligated to add this. Dogs take a ton of effort and will change your life, for better or worse. Having a dog is like having a kid. So when I say things are easy going, I mean that they are easy going for having a dog, which means taking care of his every need, which is a whole heck of a lot different than not owning a dog. If you're thinking of getting a dog, it's work, and it's responsibility, but if you're willing to give what it takes, it's also awesome.
We have 3 doxies and they all are loving so get prepared!
