I remember hearing about this story when it first came out after I first adopted Kody. At the time it was talked about as an example of how aggressive those little dachshunds could be. It turns it out, it probably wasn’t the dachshund. The article notes that the dachshund was adopted out, thank goodness.
Today we went on a long walk. Kody barked at a dog across the street but calmed down fairly quickly after walking away and turning back a couple of times. I would have preferred to be able to use treats at that time, but we’re still not using them after he was sick. I’ll probably [...]
I was starting to get worried because after three days of small portions of hamburger and rice twice a day, Kody had not pooped. He had been feeling great last night, but this morning after we got up he was not feeling well. I put him in the crate so I could take a shower. [...]

A dachshund accidentally gets an onion at a backyard barbecue leading to a trip to the emergency room.
Last night was the first night that Kody didn’t throw up and he seemed very comfortable. He was excited to get up this morning and we went on a full walk around the block. We still aren’t using treats while we get Kody gently back on a regular diet. He has hamburger and rice for [...]
When I took Kody into the vet, the vet said that the most common thing they saw was for dogs to be throwing up. The bits of blood didn’t indicate to her that anything life threatening had to be going on. He threw up again this morning but there was no food in it, I [...]
I’ve been in a bit of a funk all day. Kody is definitely feeling better, but when he’s sick it’s very difficult for me. We just went outside for a break and a neighbor pulled up with a friend. Before he even got out of the car, Kody let out a little bark, so I [...]
