I've been in a bit of a funk all day. Kody is definitely feeling better, but when he's sick it's very difficult for me.
We just went outside for a break and a neighbor pulled up with a friend. Before he even got out of the car, Kody let out a little bark, so I walked us back about ten feet and then let Kody watch. I didn't know if he would have his chocolate lab with him or not, but I was prepared if he did. We watched and he did have his dog. He walked her maybe 15 feet in front of us and Kody just watched and was quiet. He didn't let out even the littlest bark.
I could tell the neighbor was a bit shocked by this. He was prepared for Kody's barking, but there wasn't any. Ha! After they walked by, Kody indicated that he wanted to go sniff the dogs trail which he did. Then he picked up a stick and playfully moved toward our front door.
Oh, and the best part is, he even did it without treats. I have no problem if he needs treats, but since Kody's sick all he's had today is oatmeal and hamburger a couple of times. I'm keeping his diet simple and small until he feels better. Even though I have chicken, I'm not using it. I mean what do you think of that? I feel like he just won the gold medal at the dog olympics!
Again, I'm overwhelmed. I could not imagine this happening only a couple of weeks ago. I feared it was impossible, but now it seems to have happened almost by magic. I always get very emotional when Kody's sick, and the combination of that and this is a big jumble of feelings. Kody is the most awesome dog I could have ever imagined. Get better buddy!
