Excerpt

Jury selection begins next week in the Houson trial of a woman whose baby was mutilated -- his genitals were severed.

Five-week-old Holden Gothia (go-tee-ay) was asleep in March 2007 in the apartment he shared with his parents.

Katherine Nadal told police that the family dog, a 12-pound dachshund, attacked her son. The baby's father wasn't home.

But prosecutors say it was Nadal -- high on drugs -- who used a sharp object to mutilate the boy.

Comment

I remember hearing about this story when it first came out after I first adopted Kody. At the time it was talked about as an example of how aggressive those little dachshunds could be. It turns it out, it probably wasn't the dachshund. The article notes that the dachshund was adopted out, thank goodness.
