”I didn't like them originally,” said Keck, the secretary of the Connecticut Yankee Dachshund Club and owner of Sleepy Hollow, a show dachshund. “I wanted a Scottie and my husband wanted an Irish setter, so we compromised. It has the shortness of a Scottie and the coat of a setter.”

Keck said she eventually fell in love with the short, stubby-legged breed with the loving personality.

Keck, a local obedience trainer, organized the club's Match and Fun Day held Sunday in North Stonington where nearly two dozen dachshunds and their owners gathered to participate in show competitions, agility courses and eat hot dogs.

Comment

Dachshund events don't have to be huge, this one only had about two dozen dachshunds.
