August 2nd, 2009, returned
Devin Schneider, owner
Charlie, dachshund
When the worst storm Edmonton has seen in 20 years roared in, a door blew open in the south Edmonton home Charlie was staying in.
Like a scene from the Wizard of Oz, the little dog disappeared.
Distraught, Schneider returned home and plastered the city with posters. He even put up a $1,000 reward for the safe return of his furry friend.
The occasional tip came in. The most recent call came from a south Edmonton couple who had seen Charlie loitering near their property in recent days.
Schneider’s team of amateur pet detective pals found him near 27 Avenue and 114 Street, about a dozen blocks from where he disappeared.
The tipster who helped Charlie be reunited with his owner refused to accept the reward money, Schneider said.
I am so happy to hear this news. What a great outcome! It also shows it pays to be sure to contact whoever you can if your dog gets lost.
