Kody is cursed when it comes to pooping. We can be walking time and time again with no disturbances, but as soon as he's pooping, the most unlikely worst case scenarios will occur. Tonight a car pulled up about 5 feet away from him, while it was raining, while it was dark, while he was pooping.
Kody was freaked out and quickly finished (at least I hope he finished) and was very disturbed and barked a few times. I don't blame him. In my set of Kody rules, one of the rules is that I take care of Kody first, and the poop second. This is practical, because especially if Kody needs to be taken care of, if I go for the poop first Kody will get exponentially worse.
So two girls get out of the car talking and laughing and head right for us. I'm keeping an eye on Kody, but he seems to be nervous, but not so nervous the girls will notice. We're in kind of a tight spot where movement is limited which made me surprised the girls chose this route. Then I notice the girls are walking right where the poop would be. I warn them and they kind of make a half hearted attempt to walk where I say. Whatever.
If you take a small pooping dog on walks at night where the light is not great, you know that poop will get completely lost in the grass in the dark. I usually choose landmarks so I can remember where it was, and I also usually go for it right after, because even that's not certain. I have a flashlight, but tonight I was so distracted I didn't choose any landmarks so by the time I got a chance to focus again, the poop could have been anywhere in a hundred square foot area. I did an examination of the area with the flashlight, and then realized I would probably just have to wait until morning. I hope the girls don't find it before I do.
Poor Kody! Don’t feel bad though. My parents have a dachshund that gets spooked really easy. Their neighbors have a tree that is dropping acorns and every time an acorn falls their dog gets scared. He’s been having a difficult time with “making poopy”. The acorns sometimes will hit their deck and make a really loud sound, so the poor dog has experienced “poopus interuptus” a lot lately.
