Kody Waiting for his Lunch to Cool

It takes five minutes for Kody's lunch to cook, and during that time, he doesn't really care about it. He will stay in bed even though I know he can smell it. But it also takes five minutes for it to cool, and during that time Kody gets very anxious.

Once I've taken it out of the pan and put it in his bowl to cool, he will come running into the kitchen and just stand there waiting for the timer to go off. When it does, he will run over to the mat that he's been trained to sit on to wait for his lunch. I will stir it a bit with my fingers and blow on it if it needs a little more cooling. Then I walk over and set it down. When I say "okay" Kody jumps up off the mat and runs over to enjoy his lunch.

As I type this there are some people working on the pool outside, a dog will occasionally bark, and someone is whistling but Kody is being amazingly calm. He's just laying next to me looking out the slider. It's that kind of spring day though, that new warmth that sort of calms everyone down and creates a deep inner base of happiness and calm. I can hear that Kody just crawled back into bed. (While I've been proofreading he has since decided bed isn't the right place and is now laying on the couch.)
