Puppy Mill Thwarted in India Thirty puppies huddled in eight tiny cages were rescued on Monday afternoon from a city-based dog breeder who was taking them to an animal fair in Bihar by bus. Police said Manoj Basu, 32, violated rules governing animal transportation and was charged under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Don't worry, I won't post any disturbing details on this site. There are more details and a lot more information about the new laws at the link. It's amazing that people could do absolutely atrocious things to a pet and get only a slap on the wrist. Things that would probably get them life imprisonment or worse had they done them to a human. I'm glad the laws are getting tougher on this, because as you might read, these people don't just hurt animals.

I love these stories about dogs being reunited with their owners against all odds. Microchipping really is a wonderful technology.
