Excerpt

When the worst storm Edmonton has seen in 20 years roared in, a door blew open in the south Edmonton home Charlie was staying in.

Like a scene from the Wizard of Oz, the little dog disappeared.

Distraught, Schneider returned home and plastered the city with posters. He even put up a $1,000 reward for the safe return of his furry friend.

The occasional tip came in. The most recent call came from a south Edmonton couple who had seen Charlie loitering near their property in recent days.

Schneider’s team of amateur pet detective pals found him near 27 Avenue and 114 Street, about a dozen blocks from where he disappeared.

The tipster who helped Charlie be reunited with his owner refused to accept the reward money, Schneider said.

Comment

I am so happy to hear this news. What a great outcome! It also shows it pays to be sure to contact whoever you can if your dog gets lost.

Excerpt

A heartbroken city pet owner is offering $1,000 for the safe return of his beloved mini dachshund Charlie, who vanished during the recent windstorm.

Now missing from home for almost two weeks, little Charlie has been spotted multiple times near Southgate Mall, says owner Devin Schneider.

BRING HIM HOME

He hopes offering the cash reward will prompt more citizens to keep their eyes peeled, eventually leading Charlie — a brown female mini dachshund — back home.

Comment

I feel for these people. This is any dog owner’s worst nightmare, and a dog’s as well. I hope they get her back.
